Green Space Meeting

As a member of the LSC at Albany Park Multicultural Academy, I attended a community meeting that presented plans to transform the campus at Albany Park Multicultural Academy, William G. Hibbard Elementary and Edison Regional Gifted Center into a beautiful green space. This investment is not only a necessary improvement for the students at these three great schools, but it is also an incredible benefit to the larger Albany Park community.

Mayoral Forum

On Tuesday, March 5, the North River Commission hosted the Chicago Communities Mayoral Forum at Theodore Roosevelt High School. I was proud to represent 2nd Story and the Friends of Roosevelt High School during the candidate reception. Since the mayoral candidates spoke of strengthening career options and technical training for high school students, I made sure to hand them a Five Fast Facts postcard. At Roosevelt High School, we are already doing that.

AP Chamber of Commerce

On Thursday, January 31, I was delighted to attend an Albany Park Chamber of Commerce meeting hosted at Twisted Hippo. The Albany Park Chamber of Commerce does an incredible job of building bonds among small business owners and nonprofit leaders throughout Albany Park.

NRC Education Committee

On Thursday, January 17, the North River Commission Education committee hosted a Friends of Mixer at Nighthawk Chicago. There was representation from six Friends of groups and three community based organizations. Events like these feed two birds with one seed: they support local businesses while strengthening education relationships across North River.
